Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan, blonde-haired and blue-eyed She was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra in Fairfield Connecticut to Susan (Duggan), a former actress and English teacher and Harry Hyra, a maths teacher. She has Ruthenian, Polish, Irish and German heritage ("Hyra" is a Ruthenian surname and "Ryan" is the maiden name of her maternal grandmother). Meg graduated from Bethel high school in Bethel in June 1979. Meg then moved to New York City and studied journalism at New York University. Meg Ryan, her name change, started acting to earn extra cash while she was finishing her degree. Her screen debut came in 1981, with a brief appearance as Candice Bergen’s daughter in George Cukor's last film Rich and Famous (1981). She auditioned and was selected to play Betsy in the daytime television soap As the World Turns (1956). From 1982 to 1984, she was part of the cast. Meg also had a part in the TV show One of the Boys (1982) but the show was soon removed. In 1984, she moved to Hollywood and was offered a role in the western television series Wildside (1985). Meg's small part in the blockbuster movie Top Gun (1986) led to her being cast in Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) in which she co-starred with Dennis Quaid. In D.O.A.'s remake, she once again played alongside Dennis Quaid. (1988) They got married on Saint Valentine's Day 1991. In 1989, Meg appeared in When Harry Met Sally... (1989) and the scene at the restaurant was a hit. Meg was nominated both the Golden Globe and the BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. In 1993, she starred alongside Tom in Sleepless in Seattle (1993), for which she was again nominated for the Golden Globe. Meg chose to act against her peers in 1994, by playing the role of Meg as a mother and wife who is alcoholic in When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). Following that, Meg returned to her "cute" I.Q. (1994) and French Kiss (1996). People Magazine voted Meg as one of the top 50 most beautiful people in the world in 1994.
