Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami, Florida on November 30, 1977. He's an American electro house music producer as well as record producer, D.J. Music executive. He is the third child of Chizuru Kobayashi and Rocky Aoki. His father was a wrestler, and was also instrumental in helping to start the restaurant chain Benihana. He has two older brothers, Kana (sometimes called Grace), and Kevin (owner Doraku Sushi restaurant). His half-sister is Devon Aoki, a model and actress. He was born in Newport Beach, California and graduated from Newport Harbor High School, which was where he played as a member of the club that played varsity badminton. He went to UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a 2nd B.A. degrees: one of which was in feminist studies and the one in sociology. While in college, he created DIY recordings and held underground shows from his Biko room in the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch became a concert venue when the apartment was named The Pickle Patch. He also participated in student protests at UCSB. He established an organization called the Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League Chapter on campus. In his early 20s, Dim Mak was establishing his own record label, which he called Dim Mak after his favorite childhood idol Bruce Lee. He came out with I'm In the House in March 2010 in collaboration with Zuper Blahq, the alter-ego of will.i.am from The Black Eyed Peas. The song made it to the top spot at No. 29 in the U.K. singles chart in its first week. It then entered the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, placing in the top 5 in both charts. The track was featured on the MTV series Jersey Shore. It also was included in Piranha, the feature film Piranha and also in the trailer for Think Like A Man. In a May interview with HitQuarters Lucas Secon, the producer-songwriter, confirmed that he and Rivers Cuomo had just worked on one song. Pollstar identified him as the top-grossing North America dance artist from tour dates in 2012. He has worked with many artists such as Afrojack and Linkin Park, Afrojack. Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon. Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS. Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vii & Fall Out Boy. He is well-known for his remixes of artists such as Kid Cudi.
